Set 24 Previews & SJC MA Live Stream Confirmed!
It's been a while right? :)

Sorry the site hasn't been updated but the last few months have been busy for all of us...and with a stale game state there hasn't been much to talk about.

That said, Invasion was a swimming success for Bandai in my opinion, and TP4 is just as awesome. I personally haven't been able to get any TP4 or Target Promos yet but oh well. I'm sure I'll get some shortly after I get paid.

That said, we've received FIVE brand new previews for the newest set, Sage's Legacy, including a Super Rare to make up for our lack of one in Set 23. We'll be trying to do something "old" with these previews by doing a more in-depth write up than usual if we can. There's some interesting things to talk about with a few of our previews and I'm really happy that they're not just "*insert trash card here that you can barely talk about*" like we (and many other sites) sometimes get. I think this is kind of a reflection on Bandai's card design as of late. Invasion had very few bad cards and TP4 as well. Normally I've been accustomed to Naruto sets being 50 to 80% unplayable cards. And while a lot of cards in those two newest sets may not see play, I don't necessarily feel a vast majority of them are useless as per usual.

As for SJC MA in March, I'll be traveling with GenCon Winner 2010 Squee up to the Motel Casa de Pena to have some fun and cover the event for you all. Tentatively, I'll for-go playing in the event to make sure we do this coverage and we do it right. The best coverage I've ever done has been on days where I haven't been playing, and ones where I have...well they've pretty much been a wash. Additionally, this time the live stream will be done with my desktop, which is a much stronger device than the typical laptop you see me stream on. (An i7 Quad Core is much more powerful then this wimpy dual core). I got the idea from a video game streamer who travels around the country to cover events. He uses a comparable desktop and has since forgone his laptop because it's simply better. Sure travel accommodations suck that way, but it will get the job done faster.

In fact, he uses the same software as me and even the same camera (for those complaining the camera I use sucks). Because of the stronger PC, we can get away with setting the camera to max 720p HD settings. Now all that's left it so to acquire the stand he told me to get for the camera (surprisingly only $10!) and for the venue to deliver with the Wi-Fi I asked and we'll be in business. Please don't let me down on the Wi-Fi part Saul! I can't take another event where I'll promise something and have to settle with my tethered cell phone. Ha ha.

But seriously this time we're going to do this shit.

And we're going to do it RIGHT dammit!

New York SJC Coverage Confirmed!
We will be doing coverage of the Shonen Jump Championship in New York (with some minor hang ups).

This will either be in the form of text updates or a Livestream. We will have the Livestream there however I was told by the owner of the venue that everyone would have to sign a consent form to do so which seems somewhat preposterous but if that is what has to be done in the name of coverage, so be it.

What do you guys think about this?

Tournament Pack 3 - Info and Thoughts
So it seems this time for Tournament Pack 3 we've been passed over for previews. I'm not exactly too upset or worried about it as I have some confidence that for Set 22 we'll get some previews to make up for it. Hopefully a super rare, a good one this time, right Bandai? :)

The Live Stream I promised for GenCon seems like it will be for sure happening if I get approval from Bandai & GenCon. Tylar already seems pretty keen to the idea, so here's hoping. It just requires me to straighten out some audio problems and remote internet connections. After that, all I need Nick to do is help me make some nice banners and to help people run it at the actual event.

Speaking of GenCon, how are many of you getting there? 12 hour road trip seems nice and all but I've been wondering lately if I should fly instead to save time. Thoughts?

What are you thoughts on the format and such? Good? Bad?

Lastly, Bandai, I urge you to make the next iteration of the Rogue List promptly after TP3's release and make it legal for GenCon. As many of you know, Set 22 releases the day before GenCon and as with every set release, a new rogue list. Since Set 22 cards cannot be on a new rogue list and only Set 21 and TP3 cards would be able to be hit, I urge them to make this decision before the 3 week dead line to GenCon so that way we can have a very enjoyable format.

As for the quality of cards coming out of TP3, I really like some of the cards that Fire has previewed thus far but everything shown in Water has been very ... iffy. Sasuke Uchiha (State 2) was a pretty massive let down and makes me wonder what the point of his effect is. He'll still be played in many Water decks but only because it's an option, not because of how good it is. At least he could have had the Fire symbol, right?

Oh well~

Testing the GenCon Live Stream
At some point tonight or tomorrow, I'm going to be testing the Live Stream setup I intend to use for GenCon.

It will be on my Justin.tv account which you can find here. I want to see with my current setup how well it works and if I need to make adjustments, whether it be the camera or the actual connection itself.

If this works, then the only things left to do is get approval from Bandai (as in, they'll let me do this, provide me with a spot + extension chord, and an able body, preferably Andy or Tylar, to watch the setup in between rounds to make sure no one swipes it) and get approval from GenCon also as they have a policy that says I have to go through them and get approval for any live on site filming or streaming.

Wish me luck and hope this works correctly the first time. If it works, you can expect to see this setup work at any event I go to from here on out.

Edit: Okay so everything except the bit rate is good and I'm not 100% sure the audio is working but what we do have that works is pretty good. I have a really nice dual camera setup where people are able to see the players and the people sitting behind the laptop. Text overlay works. Need someone to help me make some backgrounds as well as some banners (That means you Nick). Once we know for sure that works, all that's left is to get one of those fun wireless cards from Verizon to use at GenCon. Shouldn't be too hard.

Naruto CCG News Round Up (12/7/10)
-Our previews for Set 20 "Tales of the Gallant Sage" have been restored, although the cards we receive will most likely be different than what we originally intended to get. We would like to thank everyone for their continued support of "The Perfect Curve" and I feel without the tremendous showing you guys presented on the Bandai forums, this wouldn't have been possible. We can't thank you enough! :)

-Our "The Perfect Curve Holiday Contest" is still up and running. For those that don't know, we're giving away a box of cards to the winner as well as some cool prizes like mats, super rares, and signed cards by The Perfect Curve staff.

Want to enter?

Simply submit your "Create-A-Card" using the email link in the sidebar.

You may submit a card in text or picture form. It must meet the following requirements

Card name is "Anko Mitarashi (State 1)"
Card must have the Lightning & Water Symbol
Card must have the "REINFORCEMENT" characteristic (and matching purple border for you image peoples :P)
The flavor text, turn marker, hand cost, stats, characteristics, surname, and effect are all left up to you. Just complete the card and send it in. Due date is December 17th at 9 PM EST. We'll announce our winners on a special "Holiday" podcast/livestream from Andrew's house.

-The reason for the lack of card image for the "Create-A-Card" contest is because Shino's Dad's internet is out and he has the image. Bare with us if you've been waiting for the picture. I have a backup plan in the works.

-Normally I do not plug Chunins, but this is a special case. Bandai User "WildfireGC" is hosting a Chunin in order to raise money and awareness for Pancreatic Cancer. It is being held in honor of his father, Frank Perkins, who passed away from this very same condition.

The tournament will take place on February 19th, 2011 @ Orccon in Los Angeles, California. $10 Venue Fee as well as $5 tournament entry fee. $3 from each entry fee will be donated to the Lustgarten Pancreatic Cancer Foundation. Please go out and support this event, as it contributes to a very good cause.

WildfireGC, we here at "The Perfect Curve" wish you all the best of luck.

-The New Jersey Kage @ "All Things Fun" takes place this weekend. Doors open @ 9 AM. Tournament starts @ 10 AM. Be on time. Have your deck lists/decks sleeved and ready. The sooner you're ready, the sooner we can start, which means the sooner we can all go home and play BlazBlue/Resident Evil DBG.

-"The Perfect Curve" has plans to host a Livestream for the New Jersey Kage. I have to contact the store staff, but it is feasible to do so as I have recently done some slight tweaking.

-Team "Pat's House" will be hosting a LiveStream for just generally silliness Thursday December 9th 7 PM EST and Friday December 10th 6 PM EST. Check http://www.justin.tv/tsukiyome for more details.

Games Include:
-Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 2
-Super Smash Brothers Brawl MINUS
-BlazBlue Continuum Shift
-Resident Evil Deck Building Game
-Naruto Shippuden CCG "Cube" Limited Format

Tsu Kiyo Me
Shino's Dad
Thayli
Deets

Live Stream Feedback
Just as the title says, this is the place to voice your feedback for our Live Stream. Comments are now open to anonymous posters so that way we can get as much as possible.

Do you like the idea of the stream?

Would you watch more streams at other events?

What level of events would you like to see covered? (Chunin, Jonin, Shonen Jump, GenCon, etc.)

How do you think the stream was run? (Poorly, Just Right, Amazingly, etc.)

What do you think of the quality of the live stream? (Poor, Average, Amazing, etc.)

If you felt the quality of the live stream wasn't good enough, would you support the use of small ads on this website to help generate revenue to get a better live stream camera?

Let us know how we did, especially on those last two. If the quality wasn't good enough, we want to know what we can do to make it better. We would love to be able to run a live stream at every event we attend, but we won't be able to without your input and support so please leave comments below.

Shonen Jump Championship Livestream

SJC Georgia Livestream Forthcoming
So as a treat for all of our loyal blog readers, I, your King, have decided for the Shonen Jump Championships in Georgia that we'll attempt to run a livestream with the help of Gary (VSA) and his local store.

You'll be able to watch a featured match every round, the entire event, live over the internet, right up to and including the final match. We'll be updating you all live via Chat every round with the results as well, giving you a level of coverage never before covered at any Naruto CCG event.

Of course, we'll also have plenty of pictures, videos, and tournament reports to go around if you prefer all that stuff as well. But the main focus will be the livestream, should we be able to get it up and running properly.

So... everybody, GET HYPE!
